Building on our core professional development programmes Lead and Advance, today we’re thrilled to launch Grow, our new coaching service for women working across the transport and infrastructure sector.

Grow coaching programme by Women in Transport

Grow completes a professional development suite we’ve been building for some time. Through Lead, our leadership development programme, we help women evolve their leadership capability and confidence over an immersive eight-month cohort experience. Through Advance, our long-running mentoring programme, we pair women with experienced mentors for a year of guidance, perspective and connection.

Grow adds a third way to invest in yourself – one that is built entirely around you.

Why we created Grow

Our research with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Women in Transport found that 75% of women felt that it was easier for men to progress than women in the sector. Programmes like Lead and Advance exist to help close that gap, and they work because they bring women together to learn and grow as a community.

But we also know that progress is personal. Sometimes what you need is not a cohort or a curriculum, but dedicated time and space to think – with an expert coach in your corner, focused entirely on the questions that matter most to you right now. That might be navigating a step-up, finding your voice in a room of senior leaders, weighing up a difficult decision, or simply working out what you want next and how to get there.

That is what Grow is for.

What Grow is

Grow is one-to-one professional coaching, delivered by our panel of highly experienced coaches – the same calibre of coaches who support participants on Lead. Rather than following a fixed programme, your coaching sessions are shaped around your own goals, your own context and your own pace.

Coaching is not advice or instruction. It is a structured, confidential conversation that helps you think more clearly, see your situation from new angles, and decide on the actions that are right for you. The agenda is yours. Your coach is there to challenge, support and help you move forward.

Who it is for

Grow is designed for women at any stage of their career in transport who want focused, personal support. You might be:

  • Stepping into a new or bigger role and wanting to start strong

  • Facing a specific challenge or decision and wanting space to think it through

  • Building confidence and presence as a leader

  • A Lead or Advance graduate who wants to keep the momentum going

  • Ready to invest in your own development outside of a structured programme

You do not need to be on another programme to take part – Grow stands on its own, and it also works well after Lead and Advance.

What to expect

All Grow sessions are virtual, so you can take part wherever you are based, and they are arranged to fit around a full working role.

The programme includes a free discovery call, followed by a structured six-session coaching programme over 6-8 months, with each session lasting 60-90 minutes.
