Women in Transport is delighted to announce a new partnership with Supertram South Yorkshire’s Transport.
Supertram is publicly owned and overseen by the South Yorkshire Combined Mayoral Authority (SYMCA), and works closely with Travel South Yorkshire, the region’s transport body representing the organisations and operators that deliver public transport, walking and cycling products and services across South Yorkshire.
For the past thirty years, Supertram has been a crucial part of the region’s transport network. They are committed to offering safe and accessible travel to all their customers, with all the trams and tram stops providing step-free access and dedicated space on board for wheelchair and scooter users to travel safely.
Sonya Byers, CEO at Women in Transport, commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome Supertram as a new partner of Women in Transport. Yorkshire is one of our fastest growing regions, now with over 100 members, and this partnership marks an exciting step forward in strengthening our network across South Yorkshire.
We are equally delighted to announce the appointment of Megan Burns, Head of People&Development at Supertram, as our new volunteer Regional Lead for Yorkshire. Megan brings invaluable experience and a real passion for building inclusive workplaces, and her leadership will play a key role in supporting our growing community and driving positive change across the region. Supertram’s long-standing commitment to accessible, safe and inclusive travel aligns perfectly with our mission, and we look forward to working closely together to champion diversity and support the women shaping the future of transport in Yorkshire.”
Sean English, Managing Director at Supertram added:
“Joining Women in Transport is an important step in reinforcing our commitment to inclusion, development and collaboration at Supertram. We’re particularly proud to see Megan appointed as Regional Lead for Yorkshire, which reflects both her leadership and our wider ambition to support equity, opportunity and progression for women across the transport sector. We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have for our colleagues and the region.”
