My Women in Transport Story by Trina Minchella, Rail Sector Director, Ramboll UK & Ireland
Growing up with brothers and working in reprographics and printing, I was no stranger to male-dominated environments. So, when I joined the Jubilee Line Extension Project, I was prepared for the challenges ahead. My determination to make a difference has driven me through every rail project since.
Resilience and mentorship have been key to my journey. I sought mentors who believed in my potential and encouraged me to push boundaries, and now I strive to do the same for others. There's nothing more empowering than having someone recognize and nurture your potential.
Being part of some of London's most transformative rail projects has shown me the profound impact of investment in development. I've witnessed the rail industry evolve to better represent the communities we serve. While there's still much work to be done and progress to be made, my success in this field gives me hope for others.
Today, I advocate for diversity and inclusion in the transport sector, believing that a diverse workforce brings unique perspectives and drives innovation. My journey has proven that with determination, support, and opportunities, women can excel in transport and make significant contributions. I still have much to achieve, but with industry groups and mentor schemes like Women in Transport, I'm confident I'll reach my goals.
Reflecting on my journey, I'm grateful for the challenges and triumphs that have shaped me. I'm proud to be part of a growing community of women in transport, and I'm excited about the future. Together, we're breaking barriers and paving the way for a more inclusive and innovative industry.
