Women in Transport is excited to announce that Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has renewed their partnership with us and is now our Champion partner.
SPT is the Regional Transport Partnership for the west of Scotland and was formed in 2006 as part of the transport framework created by the Scottish Government, which is made up of a national transport agency, Transport Scotland, and seven Regional Transport Partnerships.
The SPT area comprises of the following council areas: East Dunbartonshire, East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire and the Helensburgh and Lomond area of Argyll and Bute.
SPT’s role involves planning and delivering transport solutions for all modes of transport across the region, in conjunction with their member councils and industry partners. SPT is at the centre of the region’s transport planning; analysing all travel needs and developing the transport system for now and the future.
Sonya Byers, CEO at Women in Transport, commented on the renewal:
"We are delighted that SPT has renewed its partnership with Women in Transport and stepped up as a Champion partner from Ambassador after just a year as a partner. SPT has consistently demonstrated its commitment to creating a more inclusive, accessible and equitable transport sector, and we are proud to continue working together to drive meaningful change across the industry.
I would particularly like to thank SPT for its support of our Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls reception in August, which was generously hosted at SPT's offices in Glasgow and which I had the privilege of chairing. The event brought together leaders from across the transport sector to discuss one of the most important challenges facing our industry and society, and SPT's support helped create a valuable platform and safe space for those conversations.
Partnerships like this are vital to advancing our mission, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with SPT to support women, champion diverse talent and help shape a transport industry that works for everyone."
Jamie Ross SPT Chief Executive added:
“We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with Women in Transport and strengthen it even further by becoming a Champion Partner.
Our collaboration is key to how we continue to evolve as a leading public transport organisation and how we shape and how we continue to enhance the public transport network on which passengers and local communities depend”.
