We’re delighted to announce the launch of the Women in Transport East Midlands Hub – a dynamic new network hub created to bring people across the transport sector together. Whether you work in rail, road, aviation, logistics, active travel, policy, or any part of this diverse industry – this hub is for you.
While proudly aligned within Women in Transport, this hub is open to all members of Women in Transport – women and men – who believe in the power of collaboration, community, and shared development.
Why we’re here
The transport sector is moving fast, and so are the people in it. But we also know that meaningful progress comes from connection, support, and space to grow – both personally and professionally. That’s exactly what the East Midlands Hub is here to offer.
We’re also here to support and empower women in this sector. Women remain significantly underrepresented across many areas of transport, and we believe this needs to change. By creating a visible, active, and supportive community, we want to help more women thrive, lead, and feel seen in the industry.
We’ll be running events, networking meet-ups, learning opportunities, mentoring, and collaborative sessions that bring people together to share ideas, celebrate achievements, and support one another in building a thriving, inclusive sector.
A fantastic start in Nottingham
We officially launched the hub with an inspiring event in Nottingham on 12th June, where over 45 people from a wide range of transport organisations came together to connect, share and show their support.
Donna Hoffman, East Midlands Hub lead led the session with an engaging presentation outlining the vision, goals, and next steps for the hub – and invited everyone to help shape its future. The energy in the room was a true reflection of the appetite for this new community.
We were also privileged to hear from Emma Knight- Director of External Communications & Engagement at Network Rail, who gave a motivating talk about her career journey and the power of networking – particularly as a woman navigating a traditionally male-dominated sector. Her story sparked brilliant conversation and set the tone for the supportive, forward-thinking space we’re building.
