Women in Transport is excited to announce our new partnership with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. Their aim is to bring together local authorities and other key regional stakeholders to strengthen the planning and delivery of regional transport, better serving the needs of people and businesses across the west of Scotland.
SPT employs around 480 people and is committed to ensuring a diverse workforce, reflective of the communities they serve. They are an Equal Opportunities company who also participate in the Disability Confident Scheme. Their gender pay gap has closed from 15.3% in 2022 to 11.92% in 2024.
Sonya Byers, CEO at Women in Transport, commented on the new partnership:
"We’re thrilled to welcome Strathclyde Partnership for Transport as a partner. Their commitment to creating a more inclusive and representative workforce truly aligns with our vision for a more equitable transport sector. Together, we’ll continue driving change and ensuring women are supported, visible, and influential across all levels of the industry.”
SPT chief executive Valerie Davidson said:
“SPT is delighted to be working in partnership with Women in Transport. This UK-wide, non-profit membership network advocates for equity and inclusion through collaboration across the industry and is a key influencer in getting more women into transport, highlighting the range of opportunities available within the sector. “
“As well as networking and volunteering opportunities, which are available to men and women, Women in Transport also offers access to mentors for career advancement and skill development, advocacy and support. Working together, we will aim to contribute to change by improving gender diversity and equity in the transport industry.”
