Scotland Hub Event Recap: Bike skills workshop with Sunny Cycles and CIHT.

On 24th June, members of Women in Transport and CIHT joined Sunny Cycles for an inspiring and hands-on inclusive cycling workshop in Glasgow Green.

Sunny Cycles is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to making cycling accessible for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or background. Their mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming community where people can experience the joy, freedom, and health benefits of cycling. They offer a variety of programs, including adaptive bike sessions, social rides, and beginner-friendly cycling events, with a special focus on supporting individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people from underserved areas.

Across a 1-hour session, members explored a wide range of adapted bikes, trikes, and cargo bikes, gaining valuable insight into how inclusive cycling design can support mobility, independence, and wellbeing for people of all ages and abilities. The session featured some bike skills covering gears, signalling, lifting a hand off, slowing, moving onto the road, junctions and group cycling. From trying out different bike types to practising bike skills, the session created a safe and welcoming space for everyone to build confidence and have fun on wheels.

The workshop was followed by relaxed networking at West on the Green.
