Navigating the roads of menopause

February 06, 2024

The stages of peri-menopause and menopause may be filled with unpredictable physical and emotional changes. This transformative period can be both confusing and challenging, so Drivetech has put together some general tips to help.

1. Plan journeys: Anxiety is common and can have the biggest impact on driving. Planning plenty of time to reach your destination safely will ensure a comfortable and more confident driving experience.

2. Keep hydrated: Muscle aches can cause you to stiffen up and seriously affects your driving. Staying hydrated is key but if you don’t feel comfortable to drive, then don’t.

3. Temperature control: Hot flashes can impact comfort while driving and leave you feeling anxious. Maintaining a cool environment, using a seat cooler, and drinking cold water can offer a quick relief. If needs be, make a safe stop to cool down.

At Drivetech, we understand the above may not be appropriate for everyone and highly recommend contacting your GP if you have any concerns about your health. We believe that by addressing challenges head-on, women in the stages of peri-menopause and menopause can continue enjoying the freedom of the road with confidence and peace of mind.
