Introducing the Scotland Hub sponsors

March 18, 2021

As the Scotland hub prepares for its very first event on 25th March at 17.00 we are delighted to introduce the three sponsors that are generously sponsoring our launch: Transport Scotland, Network Rail and Momentum Transport Consultancy.

Transport Scotland

Transport Scotland is the national transport agency for Scotland, delivering the Scottish Government’s vision for transport. The strategies they put in place to make sure that they are always looking to the future, keeping Scotland moving, active and green.

Roy Brennan, Chief Executive at Transport Scotland, said:

“The Scottish Government is focused on making Scotland a more successful country and a better place to live. It is our ambition to be a world-leading, diverse employer where people can be themselves at work.

Therefore, we are delighted to confirm that Transport Scotland will be one of the sponsors of the new Women in Transport Scotland Hub. We are impressed by the work undertaken centrally by Women in Transport and the developed regional Hubs, and wish the new Scotland Hub every success for its launch event on 25th March, also going forward into the future.”

Network Rail

Network Rail owns, operates and develops Britain’s railway infrastructure. Their role is to run a safe, reliable and efficient railway, servicing customers and communities and delivering 4.8 million journeys a day.

Charlene Wallace, Director of Freight, National Passenger and Customer Experience at Network Rail, said:

“My role requires me to work across the UK however Scotland is my background and it is my home. So, the launch of the Women in Transport in Scotland is not only something Network Rail would be honoured to be supporting but also for me on a personal level.

The Women in Transport platform is a brilliant concept in empowering underrepresented women, supporting us and other likeminded women to propel their voices and help make key decisions in the transport industry.”

Momentum Transport Consultancy

Momentum is an integrated transport consultancy. They are progressive, knowledgeable thinkers in planning, analytics and engineering. Their aim is that communities benefit from their strategies and the recommendations they make.

David Hart, Director at Momentum Transport Consultancy and mentor on the Advance mentoring programme said:

“I am absolutely delighted that Momentum is able to support the launch of Women in Transport in Scotland, and that this fantastic organisation will now be doing its great work north of the border!

Women in Transport provides an excellent supportive network for those working in transport and does great work in promoting the interest of under-represented women in the industry; we are very grateful to the other sponsors for enabling the launch and are ourselves proud to have a strong association with the organisation.”

Mailys Garden, Scotland lead for Women in Transport said:

"By establishing a regional hub for Women in Transport we are hoping to build on the strengths and unique characteristics of the sector in Scotland.

I am incredibly grateful that our sponsors are generously supporting the launch of a platform for women and men alike to share, learn, showcase and discover the extraordinary breadth of activities and talents in the transport sector and promote a strong and diverse workforce that supports growth."

Our industry wide network is open and inclusive, welcoming everyone who works in the transport sector. Our mission is to support the professional advancement of women working in the transport sector and we believe in promoting inclusion across the industry.
