It’s a real privilege to lead TfL’s Women’s Colleague Network Group. It’s such a vibrant and active community, There is always plenty going on and with the six sub-groups there’s also plenty of variety and something that appeals to our wide and diverse community.
This year’s International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month celebrations were truly groundbreaking for our network. We delivered a packed schedule of 21 events—more than ever before—and saw double the engagement compared to last year. From thought-provoking panels to practical workshops, the energy and enthusiasm from colleagues across the organization was incredible.
One of our proudest achievements was hosting our first-ever Women’s Health Fair. This landmark event brought together 18 external organisations and TfL departments, all dedicated to supporting women’s health and encouraging a proactive approach to wellbeing. With over 200 colleagues attending, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive—many shared how valuable and empowering the experience was.
We also forged new partnerships with external organisations, expanding our reach and offering even more value to our members. From professional headshots to financial wellbeing sessions, pension planning, and interview preparation, we curated a programme that truly had something for everyone—reflecting the diverse interests and needs of our community.
Our headline celebration event, delivered in partnership with Women in Transport, was a phenomenal success. Featuring two inspiring external speakers, Sonya Byers and Jo Phillips, the event left a lasting impression on all who attended. Their stories, insights, and authenticity sparked meaningful conversations and reminded us of the power of shared experiences.
Of course, our work doesn’t stop at the end of March. In my last post, I mentioned another exciting first for the network—our Imposter Syndrome Programme. I’m thrilled to share that our inaugural cohort has now completed the programme, and the results have been incredibly encouraging. We saw improvements in 19 out of 21 key metrics, with particularly significant gains in colleagues’ confidence and overall wellbeing.
Buoyed by this success, we’re now in the early stages of planning a second cohort, with the goal of making this transformative programme accessible to even more of our members. It’s been inspiring to see how much of a difference targeted support can make—and we’re just getting started.
This year TfL’s wonderful colleague network groups are celebrating their twenty-year anniversary, a milestone we share with our partners at Women in Transport and as you may expect there is lots planned starting with a special evening of reflection, inspiration, and connection hosted at TfL’s Cable Car experience. This event will not only honour the achievements of the past two decades but also spotlight the power of intersectionality across all our CNGs. It promises to be a memorable evening that brings together colleagues, allies, and partners to celebrate how far we’ve come—and to look ahead to the future we’re building together at TfL.
Looking ahead we are not slowing down and have many more events and activities to continue to build our great community and create a safe and equitable working environment for women here at TfL.
