The City of Edinburgh Council joins Women in Transport

We are thrilled to announce that the City of Edinburgh Council has joined the Scotland hub of Women in Transport as a corporate member.

Women in Transport is a not-for-profit that empowers women to maximise their potential. Membership provides access to a varied events programme, networking opportunities, annual mentoring, a leadership development programme and the All Party Parliamentary Group for women in transport.

Daisy Narayanan, Head of Mobility and Placemaking at the City of Edinburgh Council, said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the City of Edinburgh Council – I’m really pleased that we’re joining such a worthwhile organisation. There are many talented and enthusiastic women working in transport across the Council who will really benefit Women in Transport’s Scotland Hub.

“I know from my own experience in the transport industry how valuable peer-to-peer support, as well as recognition, can be. Through Women in Transport, I look forward to the opportunities colleagues will receive, which won’t only maximise their potential but will foster a stronger, more diverse workforce.”

Mailys Garden, Scotland lead for Women in Transport, said:

“I am delighted to welcome the City of Edinburgh Council to Women in Transport. It’s a first for the Scotland hub to have a local council join our network, and we’re really excited to meet our new members. I was really pleased when Daisy accepted to speak for our launch event in 2021. Over the past two years we are proud to have grown our membership and delivered a series of key initiatives across Scotland.

I now look forward to developing the relationship with the City of Edinburgh Council to identify barriers to success for women, to showcase regional talents and to share success stories and best practice. From all of us at Women in Transport a big welcome to our colleagues at the City of Edinburgh Council!”
