Mobility Camp Unconference 2023

Tickets for Mobility Camp 2023 can be purchased at Eventbrite.

Mobility Camp will be returning in September for the sixth time! Mobility Camp is organised and run entirely by volunteers, and we’re really excited about this year’s event.

It will take place at Austin Court in Birmingham on Tuesday 26th September and will bring together public and private sector planners and engineers, academics, students, activists and anyone else interested in the built environment and how we move around it.

As always, Mobility Camp will be an ‘unconference’ where the broad theme is agreed in advance but attendees (that’s hopefully you!) get to decide the detail on the day.  The unconference format provides everyone with the opportunity to shape the event, so be prepared to get involved and have some fun!

This year’s theme is ‘change the narrative’. We know the challenges transport faces - decarbonisation, the cost of living, and a fast-changing world are at the forefront of professional's minds. Many are willing to experiment with the more radical policy initiatives needed, such as 15-minute neighbourhoods, traffic filters, and other forms of restraint in car travel. This has provoked a furious and sometimes conspiratorial backlash among some members of the public. The time for radical change is now, so what can we do as professionals to take the public with us on this journey, and win their trust? Can we change the perception of solutions, and who does it? Or are there some people you just can't reach, and if so, what do we do about that? At Mobility Camp 2023, we will explore ideas and action on how to change the narrative for transport.

Tickets for Mobility Camp 2023 can be purchased at Eventbrite.

Meet our panellists:

A new tradition of Mobility Camp is to start the day with a guest panel to help stimulate the brain cells and challenge conventional thinking – and we are delighted to announce the 2023 panel, which promises to be thought-provoking, inspiring, and filled with valuable takeaways:

  • Sonya Byers, CEO of Women in Transport

  • Ben Plowden, Chair of The Transport Planning Society & Associate, PA Consulting

  • Isabelle Clement, Director of Wheels for Wellbeing

  • Sandra Wiztel, CMO of Sked GO & Co-Founder of Women in Mobility UK

  • Georgia Yexley, Founder of LOUD Mobility

  • And you……..we have reserved one panel spot for an Unconference attendee – could that be you????

Why don’t you join us?

Mobility Camp is a great opportunity to meet new people, increase your network, share your experience or views, and contribute to one of transports most challenging yet crucial conversations.

The unconference is taking place at the fantastic ‘Austin Court’ in Birmingham on Tuesday 26th September, to register visit Mobility Camp, don’t delay as tickets are going fast!

Not sure what an Unconference is?
Well, Mobility Camp brings together transport planners, modellers, engineers, technologists, social activists, academics, and others interested in discussing and coming up with solutions to ongoing challenges in the transport sector. At an unconference, only the theme and rooms are set up by the organisers. The sessions are suggested and decided upon by attendees on the day. It provides everyone with the opportunity to shape the event, so be prepared to get involved and have some fun!
