🚉 Women in Transport members are invited to join BDP for a behind-the-scenes architectural tour of Glasgow Queen Street Station, providing a unique close-look of one the city’s most significant transport landmarks.
The redevelopment of Glasgow Queen Street Station, completed in 2021 as part of the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme, has redefined the passenger experience. The design not only enhances connectivity but also celebrates the station’s heritage, framing views of the Category-A listed train shed at the heart of the station. The result is a striking civic gateway the redefines the relationship between the train and the city, fitting for Scotland’s third-busiest station.
The tour will be led by Edward Dymock, BDP Architect Associate Director and Design Lead for the redevelopment. Through a short presentation and guided walk, Ed will share the story behind the station’s transformation, including the history of the site, the project’s design drivers, and the concepts and the technical solutions that shaped the project.
What to expect:
Short presentation delivered within the station’s management suite.
Design-focussed guided tour of the station’s concourse.
Insights into the design process including heritage integration, urban regeneration and technical solutions.
A unique opportunity to gain insights into one of Scotland’s most recent major transport hub
This will be followed by a networking session which will be shared soon. Networking session will be open to all (members and non-members).
