Site Visit to Emergency Response Unit at Acton, London
The Emergency Response Unit of TfL was opened in May 1994 and has been providing resources to respond to an array of emergencies on TfL’s services and infrastructure ever since.
Women in Transport Members are invited to register for this fantastic site visit to the ERU depot at Acton in West London. The itinerary for the day will be:
0900 Meet at Acton Town station and walk to ERU through the depot
0915 Welcome with Tea & Biscuits
0930 ERU presentation & guest speakers
1000 Q&A
1015 Activities - train crawl, egg challenge
1200 Lunch Break (access to staff canteen or BYO)
1245 Tour / ERU exercise
1500 Close
Due to site constraints we will be limited to 30 places so get your registration in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
PPE Requirements
PPE will need to be worn for parts of the visit and, whilst ERU will provide coveralls and hi-vi vests it would be useful if you could bring your own safety boots:
If you do not have safety boots, any closed toe footwear will be ok, but be aware they could get scuffed if you do the train crawl.
If you are unable to provide your own, please let us know as there will be a very small amount of assorted sizes available to borrow at the depot. Please note however that there may not be all sizes available.
Women in Transport Members last did this visit in 2023 where we had members crawling under trains and observing demonstrations of the amazing services that ERU provide. Great fun was had by all so why not sign up for more of the same?
Access to the ERU depot at Acton is via the depot entrance on Bollo Lane, London, W3 8BZ, but we will be meeting at the booking hall of Acton Town station.
This event is only open to Women in Transport members.
