Overcoming ‘Imposter Syndrome’ - Enabling Gender Diversity on the Board

Despite the strong business case that exists for gender diversity at board-level, many transport companies still struggle with progressing their best female talent to senior level positions, and research shows that the biggest barrier holding women back was a lack of self-confidence.

Surveys reflect that self-belief, rather than capabilities or experience, hold women back from putting themselves forward for promotion significantly more than men, and while this may not be the only factor, it is a critical factor that holds female leaders back.

Just 8.5% of senior leaders in technology are from a minority background, while women make up only 12.6% of board members in the sector.
