Over and Near Rail Development

  • Robert Bird Group Harling House, 47-51 Great Suffolk Street SE1 0BS United Kingdom (map)

Together with global structural engineering specialists, Robert Bird Group (RBG), we are delighted to invite members to an evening focusing on infrastructure projects that involve development over and near rail sites in central London.

RBG will present individual case studies where it has provided innovative engineering and construction technology, methodology and sequencing techniques to unlock the potential of two heavily constrained inner London sites to enrich the urban habitat and provide new spaces for development opportunities.

They will discuss the serious engineering challenges presented by 21 Moorfields, an air-rights commercial development directly above Moorgate Underground Station.

You will hear how constraints, which included six London Underground (LU) railway lines, two Crossrail tunnels below ground, station services and the new Crossrail ticket hall were addressed.

The second case study is LU's Bank Station where RBG is working with Dragados as the Civil and Structural Engineer on the station's capacity upgrade project.

RBG will discuss how LU adopted the Innovative Contractor Engagement procurement process that enables the early engagement of Tier 2 contractors, ensuring that the design process benefits from contractor input relating to construction techniques, methodologies and construction sequencing.

You will have the chance to put your questions to RBG as well as enjoy networking with members over drinks and refreshments after the talk.

This is a unique opportunity that is not to be missed. This invitation is strictly for members but, if you have colleagues who would be interested, you are welcome to bring them along.

Registration is essential, so could you please use the form below to let us have your details and also ask your guests to register.
